Whether we slept poorly the night before, or need that extra boost before hitting the gym, sometimes we all need a little pick me up. Rather than downing that other cup of coffee (or matcha), I prefer to make this smoothie to get the body pumped and ready for the day, or night, ahead. You'll be bouncing off the walls but without the anxiety that the extra caffeine hit might bring.

This super smoothie is made up of all crucial ingredients for potency, taste and texture. The five key elements included for energy are the following:

  • Flaxseed Oil - Flaxseed oil is high in omega-3 fatty acids, a type of essential fatty acid that plays a crucial role in brain function and preserving brain health. Research has shown that omega-3 fatty acids help impairment in brain function and help improve attention. Flaxseed also provides us with healthy fats and protein that give us a sustainable energy boost.

  • Cordyceps - Cordyceps is a type of fungi that has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries to treat fatigue, low sex drive and improving exercise performance. Cordyceps is believed to increase the body's production of ATP, which is essential for delivering energy to the muscles.

  • Bee Pollen - Containing over 250 biologically active substances, including proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, enzymes and antioxidants, bee pollen gives natural energy that is long-lasting and sustainable.

  • Maca - Maca has been used for centuries for its energising qualities; this superfood is a complete protein that contains more than 20 amino acids and an array of vitamins and minerals. Used as a natural alternative to caffeine that boosts natural energy levels, increases stamina and endurance, aids testosterone production, and helps relieve menstrual problems.

  • Creatine - For an extra energy boost, creatine provides additional ATP energy which can help improve our endurance during high-intensity exercise. Creatine is particularly useful for physical activity on an array of fronts.
