Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme (Isolation)

The idea for this Welluvia soundscape came quite recently. I was outside having my morning matcha when my friend Ayiri texted me a link to a Michael Andrews song that soundtracked the opening to a movie (and also opens this mix). As I listened I found it uplifting but with it also arose slight amounts of melancholy too . It was easy to relate to the current state of the world, I was relaxing outside but deep down I was filled with uncertainty like I can imagine the rest of us are as well.

As the day passed I listened to the song more and decided I would make a mix that reflected how I was feeling. I thought a lot about my sister Vanja (who this mix is for) that is currently still in lockdown in her country house in Lombardy, Italy. I imagined how the isolation would sound and the feeling of being so far from her (immediate) family. Her days are usually filled with spending time alone painting, going for walks around the property, gardening and picking vegetables from their organic garden and also cooking and baking with these ingredients. Given this idea, I decided the right tone for this would be an obscure hybrid of baroque pop, 70’s folk rock, modern electronic, ambient orchestral arrangements and acoustic tracks.

Hope you enjoy,

Aleksandar
