Editor’s Newsletter No. 2 - March 2020
Welcome to Welluvia’s next newsletter!
What a busy few weeks it’s been! I wrote the last newsletter around mid-February so it’s a been a bit under a month now but time has gone so quickly. Last time I had written about some things I was excited to share in February and only noticed as I started to plan the articles for March that I hadn’t yet shared some of the things I had intended for February - so they’ll be this weeks articles. The sulforaphane article available here + my experiment changing coffee to matcha here. To coincide with the two articles I created a super nutrient smoothie recipe which utilises both of the benefits from each of the articles here.
It’s a scary time in the world right now. As coronavirus is spreading rapidly across the globe, it seems the virus isn’t going away anytime soon. My close friend's parents cancelled their skiing trip in Japan where the virus is infecting quickly, while my older sister Vanja who lives in Milan is currently in lockdown as Italy scrambles to contain their spike in cases. It’s vital to practice vigilance and common sense - washing your hands, carrying hand sanitiser, wearing a mask if you’re feeling unwell along with self-isolation if you believe you’ve come into contact with the virus.
In Welluvia news, the Valentine’s Day article I had intended to be quite small ended up being, although the most popular, the most in-depth and comprehensive article I had written for Welluvia yet. Research for the fragrance section of that article had spurred some new interests for me in the past few weeks as I’ve experimented with different essential oils and learnt more about the molecular structure of different natural ingredients and the similarities between various fragrance compounds. I hope to talk more about the research I’ve done and exciting things I’ve found in a future article. Another thing I’ve been doing lately has been blending organic tea blends with my mother, who already has an organic tea business sold in various cafes and health food stores. Learning about the different benefits of herbs, flowers and teas has been fascinating to me, and I hope to do some more research into the topic in the coming weeks.
I hope everyone has a happy, healthy and safe March and looking forward to updating you again next month!
With wellness,
Aleksandar
